Easily Connect to anyone, anywhere.
The NorthStar Telecommunications Network is comprised of a collection of software and hardware tools. Polycom, a world leader in video conferencing technology, is a major part of our infrastructure. With the use of the Polycom CMA Desktop, RMX 2000 and MGC-100 bridges, the Office of Distance Learning can provide a range of video and desktop conferences services for all Prairie View A&M University campuses.
For users, the Polycom CMA Desktop is a PC-based application for communicating over video and voice and sharing content. Easy to learn and highly intuitive, the CMA Desktop allows enterprise users to simply point and click to collaborate with colleagues over video any place, any time. Integrated presence-awareness allows users to verify contact availability and status, and seamless LDAP directory integration both simplifies management and ensures contact list accuracy.
Centrally deployed through the CMA Server, CMA Desktop clients are managed within the same video ecosystem as telepresence and tradition room-based video conferencing systems, providing a powerful solution that spans all video client environments. CMA Desktop clients are included as a component to the CMA Server, with licensing based on the industry-recognized CAL (Client Access License) deployment model. CMA Desktop clients range from 200 up to 5000 clients.
The Polycom RMX 2000 Real-Time Media Conferencing Platform is an advanced IP-based platform for simplified multipoint conferencing. Built upon the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA), the standards-based RMX 2000 conferencing platform provides ultra high-speed connectivity, extreme low latency, and the utmost in reliability and serviceability. The RMX 2000 conferencing platform also incorporates a modular, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-ready design to support highly scalable, next generation deployments of conferencing applications
The Polycom MGC-100 is a high performance, high capacity Multipoint Control Units (MCU) which support up to 96 ports for the MGC-100. They utilize a variable port bandwidth ranging from 56 to 1920 Kbps.
The system meets International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector, (ITU-T, formerly CCITT) standards for multipoint multimedia bridging devices, and meets ETSI standards for telecommunication products. The MGC-100 DC also meets the NEBS Compliant Standard (when so ordered) for our clients based in the United States.
